For more than 16 weeks in the spring and summer of 2007, Jerry Kelly fruitlessly pursued services for a family member who was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome at age 37. After countless conversations with medical and mental health professionals and a considerable amount of research, he found that programs identified for adults and secondary school-age Asperger’s cases stood in direct contrast to the glaring need of this underserved community.
Jerry has over 15 years experience counseling and coaching teens, adults and the geriatric population with physical, social and psychological issues. He received his master’s degree in counseling from Temple University in 1994. He has also completed a certified coaching program, attended numerous conferences and done extensive research into the best approaches to minimize the effects of Asperger Syndrome on social anxiety and isolation.
His approach is a short-term, goal directed, cognitive intervention. His goal is to act as teacher, coach, social worker, translator and advocate all in one.
